Delgado Street Came Alive

Santa Fe, New Mexico - It was all there…Delgado Street came alive last Friday night. Music filled the air as the Randy Heddon Trio, a three piece blues band, performed on the porch of Randall M. Hasson Gallery. The renovated houses, now showplaces for unique and fine art, brought an atmosphere of olden days when people strolled down the streets, chating with neighbors during warm summer evenings.

On the rear portal of Galerie Esteban another treasure was unfolding as a young violinist, Teresa Paul, mesmerized visitors with her haunting melodies. Monica Steinhoff’s etchings were well-received at Galerie Esteban and 9 were purchased by admiring viewers. Valerie Hasson, Randall M. Hasson Gallery, directly credits the sale of one of her artist’s paintings to the aroma of the chicken enchiladas they were serving.  Aleta Pippin and Barbara Meikle, Pippin Meikle Fine Art, were overwhelmed by the comments about the positive energy and vibrant color of artwork on display at their place. That was topped off by the sale of Aleta Pippin’s $5,000 painting, “Fan Dance,” to a Dallas couple.

---And the beat went on as the visitors came back for more on Saturday, once again enjoying the combination of music, fine art and hospitality while discovering this new fun-filled street.  “It’s exactly what we hoped for,” stated Pippin, “when Barbara Meikle and I took the plunge to open over a year ago.”

Now the five galleries, InArt, Randall M. Hasson, Eight Modern, Galerie Esteban and Pippin Meikle Fine Art are working together, taking creative marketing to the next step. They have organized their own collaborative for overseeing everything from advertisements to a website to providing parking. Yes, there is parking on Delgado Street!
